Reminder for student-athletes

Completed Player Release and Consent Forms (RC) and Player Information Sheets (PIS) are overdue. A number of players have missed the original deadline, the extended deadline and upon coach’s review I am sorry to say we are still missing some. If you have not completed either, please do so and hand deliver to a member of the 2019 Spring Coaching Staff ASAP.

Voluntary workouts are going well and we thank the participants.

Another important deadline is the Jeffco Student-Athlete Springs Sports Registration process. That deadline is 2/18/2019.

Player gear and apparel both required and optional has been identified via our online store and posted to our website and discussed with players at Monday Classroom sessions and at Parent Meetings. By now players should have all their gear except Spring 2019 Game tops.

Try-outs for H.S. students are scheduled for 2/25 and 26. Rosters will be posted by the morning of 2/27. Underclass players not rostered to the V or JV will be referred to the ECBC C-Team and their try-outs are scheduled for 3/1, 2. EHS Baseball and the ECBC C-Team plays at a competitive level.

Spring Break is 3/23-30. The pre Spring Break trip parent advisory meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 3/12 in the EHS Library 6:00PM. V and JV travels to AZ via a chartered bus and will play 3 competitive games each against other H.S. teams and will practice while down in AZ. The ECBC C-Team also travels to AZ (not on the chartered bus) and they have 4 games scheduled at a MiLB complex in Mesa, AZ.

We are hosting field preparation work days on Cougar Field 2/23, 24 (no players please on Sunday 2/24 just parents) 10A – on. This is an important date since we have a couple tasks to do to get the fields (Cougar Field and the EHS Upper Field) ready for practice and play. Please try to attend at least one of those dates. We will be shoveling snow off the field (bring a plastic snow shovel please), disassembling our portable rollaway BP cage to move it to the Upper Field and assembling a new cage on Cougar Field. We also need to work on replacing the turf coverings on both dugout benches.

Our Spring schedules are posted to our website to include school bus departure times from EHS for HOME games. Please note that a few early season Varsity “HOME” games will be played at All Star Park (ASP) in Lakewood since I anticipate the usual weather challenges. For Saturday AWAY games there is no school bus service. I am asking parents to arrange or coordinate approved travel for their student-athlete on Saturdays.

Our player potluck dinner is scheduled for Friday 3/1 see our website for updates and the Sign-Up Genius for volunteer help.

Lastly, I want to thank each of you for your commitment to Cougar Baseball and remind you of our ongoing fund raising needs. This year we are installing a new 10 inning scoreboard in RF and upgrading training facilities (turf mats to hit off of; tee stations, etc.). We could not do this without fund raising. We have a fund raising committee and we are looking for assistance with this. Thank you all.
