6.16.20 Summer Play Update

Evergreen Baseball Club summer program will kick off Monday 6/22 and end the last week in August. Based on initial player/parent discussions with coaches, it seems that we have enough players to field three teams this summer: 18U, 16U and 15U. Teams will practice two to three times a week and two weeks of practice/conditioning is desired prior to playing games/showcases.

SUMMER PLAY:

Goals for 2020 summer play are player development, depth charting for Spring 2021 and projected Spring 2021 V and JV by position and off the mound.

Games: Although we’ve been invited to play in AZ and TX this summer, we will not participate in out-of-state tournaments this summer. We are reviewing Colorado Classic Baseball tournaments and college showcases. Please indicate player availability/interest to play on specific dates this link. Jeffco Athletics has prohibited spectators at Cougar Field and we are awaiting their approval for home games and concession stand operations.

UNIFORMS:

Our goal is to reduce overall player costs, therefore, we will continue to use apparel from previous years/seasons.

Game Jersey: The navy performance t-shirts with gold and red lettering that we used last year will be the official game jersey for summer and fall for several years to come. Again, it is not mandatory to purchase the game jersey for this summer. For those who would like to purchase a jersey (@$39), please visit our online store

Hats: White or navy Evergreen baseball caps – available on our online store

Other: grey pants, navy sleeves, navy belt, navy socks

Face coverings: BYO or visit our online store to purchase a Marucci gaiter.

BUDGET:

We are trying to keep costs to a minimum and will share ballpark team costs in the coming week.

JEFFCO PROTOCOL

Jeffco Athletics' protocol mandates the following for players:

PLAYERS/COACHES SHOULD STAY HOME IF THEY FEEL SICK OR ARE EXPERIENCING COVID-19 RELATED SYMPTOMS

● Students must bring their own equipment and supplies (athletic equipment, apparel, water bottles and towels)

● Sharing of individuals' equipment is prohibited

● Every player and coach will be subject to Covid-19 symptom screening (answering questions about symptoms and having temperature checked) upon arrival to practices and games

● Face coverings are required for indoors and recommended for outdoor play

No gathering after practices will be allowed

If any of the above criteria are not met, the athlete/coach/sponsor will be sent home

Protocol for next week: 6/22-6/27

· Practice session may not exceed 90 minutes

· No equipment may be shared.

Baseball players will not share gloves, bats, or throw a single ball that will be tossed among the team. A single player may hit in cages, throw batting practice (with netting as a backstop, no catcher). Prior to another athlete using the same balls, they will be collected and cleaned individually.

SUPPLY DONATIONS NEEDED

Although the district indicates we will receive some supplies, we may not receive them in time for our first day of practice and we anticipate needing more than they will provide. Please bring your donations the first day of practice (dates/times TBA):

Hand sanitizers, Kleenex, masks, Clorox or Lysol all-purpose cleaners, Clorox wipes and disposable gloves.

More info coming soon.
