12.30.2021 Coach’s Message – Update on EHS Spring Baseball
Here is an update.
Varsity 23 games max. 16 are League and all are scheduled. We play non-league:
Bear Creek 3/15 at BC or at ASP;
Glenwood Springs 3/29 at GSHS;
3 in AZ Greenway Festival;
at Palisade 4/1; and
Pondo at EHS on 5/17.
I'm trying to lock-in Greenway Festival in AZ for games Tuesday 3/22, Thursday 3/24, and Saturday 3/26 with joint V/JV practices on Saturday off Sunday, then practice on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Travel to AZ will be on your own, check-in early Saturday 3/19 with departure after the game on Saturday 3/27 or on Sunday 3/28. We will need help with: loading games onto MaxPreps V and JV (board member or delegate); finding a team hotel with 4 to a room and negotiating a rate with breakfast and pool in a safe area walking distance to food; securing practice fields; and in driving down equipment (machines, balls, buckets, extension cords, etc). District required paper work to travel out-of-state is also a big deal. I am trying to lock-in Vail HS for 3/10, 11 or 12 and secure a playable field like ASP.
For the JV - max games allowed 19, 16 of which should be League. I have a question into the District to confirm if Alameda will have a JV team this year. They did not last year. JV is locked-in to play Pondo at Pondo on 5/17 at 4:30p. That would mean JV can play 2 or 3 in AZ or a different combination in CO or AZ?
Weekday games start at 4pm, alternate sites. Weekend or Saturday games V at 12noon followed by JV at 2:30p same venue or site.
Coaches and Board have messaged out online store link for players and coaches. All orders should have been placed by now and the online store has closed. Hats are on order and should be in soon, they are fitted, pro-back style. For Spring, we provide game tops while players are responsible for hats, batting gloves, pants, sleeves, hoodies, helmets with c-flaps, socks/stirrups, BBCOR bats, etc.
We remain watchful for CV-19 risks and will try to get travel insurance. We advise parents to do the same.
I am waiting for confirmation from the Greenway Festival and am trying to find practice fields.
We would like our C-team to travel to AZ too. What that will look like is still a work-in-progress.
Parent logistic coordinators are now needed for the 2022 Varsity, JV and C-team. I am asking our Booster Club for their help in identifying volunteer parents. It’s now time to start Spring Break and Spring 2022 planning. Ideally we go with 2 parent/volunteer logistic and communication coordinators per team. They will help manage each team’s text message service too. That too has to be setup. Varsity and JV text service is through MaxPreps once roster info is uploaded along with schedule.
Thank you.
