10.19.2021 Coach’s Message – 2022 4A Baseball Schedule

Listed below is the link for our suggested 2022 Spring 4A Jeffco baseball schedule for League games. Coaches and ADs will review and accept or adjust. Once that happens, I start the process of scheduling the balance of our 23 allowed games plus 2 scrimmages (for the Varsity). JV is limited to 19 games plus 2 scrimmages. Then it is on to Spring Break (SB).

Spring Break is 3/19/22 (Saturday) through 3/27/22 (Sunday). Emily Webre researched a few options for us in Florida and Arizona. We now have to start to plan for our SB trip. Working with our Booster Club Board we will:

  • Update Emily’s spread sheet listing options, related cost and disseminate to parents and coaches.

  • Schedule balance of games (non-League) for our Varsity and JV.

  • Schedule an interested parents (with players) and player meeting to discuss our SB options. We want to get parent, player and coach input.

  • Discuss Freshman Team SB options (C-Team).

  • I am working to update our Spring 2022 Coaching Staff.

Please remember:

SB is for player development; it is not a vacation. With our weather, our goal is to practice outside as much as possible, focus on conditioning, baseball specific skills and team chemistry. I do plan on playing games and scrimmages too. Varsity and JV can practice together. Freshman can be rostered to the Varsity or JV. Sophomores can be rostered to the Freshman or C-Team. The C-Team operates as a “club.”

Transportation is always an issue and we have options: chartered bus that stays with us the entire trip - Varsity and JV players. If taking a bus, we can stop on the way to final destination to practice, rest overnight. Fly on your own then need local rental vans to move players, coaches around (V and JV). Lodging is usually at a team designated hotel, 4 players to a room. Budget needs to be created with major spend items: bus, driver tip (if we go with a chartered bus); rental vans (if we go with fly-in on your own) lodging (includes player and coach rooms); shipment of equipment (pitching machines, extension cords, buckets with baseballs, medical kit); rental of practice facilities (gift cards); one team meal (rest of meals are responsibility of players); trip cancellation insurance, etc..

Please look for our invitation for an all parents, players and coaches meeting soon. Thank you.

Please try to help us the first weekend in November (Saturday and Sunday) when we winterize Cougar Field. We need help with painting, raking, tarping, power washing, cleaning-out the concession stand, rolling-up wind curtain and netting to include shrink wrapping our Big Bubba portable batting cage.
